Review - CPA Day 18 October 2008

CPA Day was organized on Saturday, 18 October 2008 with the purpose of encouraging team spirit as well as positive change and personal development. CPA here stands for Change, Perform and Aspire, three aspects which we hope to be able to integrate into our participants through challenges and obstacles in the form of a treasure hunt.

Everybody gathered at the Old Block Auditorium for the welcoming and briefing.

Some groups waiting in anticipation.

After the reading out of rules and regulations, the team leaders were asked to come up and to collect their first clue... and they were off!

Clue 1:

On the second floor I hang,
It's strange,
At a moment's notice,
I change.

Our location at our
2nd floor notice board saw Choulyin asking teams for three activities organised by our committee in the previous semester.

Clue 2:

If 1 plus 2 is 3,
then that is where I'll be,
a place where cars
reach for the stars
parked in vicinity.

One of the teams heading over to Jacob who was waiting at the 3rde Level of the Multi-storey Carpark Building for the Speed Racer Challenge.

Clue 3:

Every cranny and nook
No matter where you look
You'll always find a book.

At the library, teams had to log on to this blog and look for four book serial numbers on a previous post and then to search for the books and take a photo and show to Esther before moving on to the next station.

Clue 4:

Gentle is the breeze
That makes this room so cold.
So very, very cold.

The Cold Room Game tests the participants' control of chopsticks in collecting CPA-coloured marbles from the pails of water, with Audrey in charge of the station.

Clue 5:

Where oh where, within a shell,
Can you hide so well?

At our new seashell-shaped Lecture Theater, the seashell game commenced under the supervision of Grace. Participants had to search for ten seashells around the vicinity, and then arrange the 10 seashells to form 5 rows of 4 seashells.

Clue 6:

Dear Mr Chan.

At the Mr Chan Challenge, Jacq tested the participants on the knowledge of the courses undertaken in Swinburne.

Clue 7:

A place to fill your tummies,
With lots and lots of yummies,
Placed in open air,
With stools to spare,
This is where you'll find me.

The Food Challenge saw Shariman asking them to pick 4 choices out of nine, and whatever ingredient was selected was turned into a delectable sandwich for all of the participants to consume~ Beware of the green blended garlic-onion-ginger paste!

Clue 8:

A question from our history,
Let's solve this bit of mystery,
if you are very bright,
where was Networking Night?

The final location for the games was the CMM Games Challenge. Here we had a dart-throwing game and also an outdoor-spinning-and-throwing-the-balls-into-the-rubbish-bin game which kept many teams awaiting because they were so dizzy they couldn't even walk straight!

Finally, after obtaining their last clue, teams had to search for our club president and to hand in all the clues and answers to her but it was a matter of knowing who the president was that caught many off guard!

All in all, the participants progressed between the locations very well. The fastest team took approximately 2 hours to complete the entire hunt.

Congratulations to Team Yellow for making it back in first place in 2 hours!

The Orange Team won second place. Congratulations!

Finally, the Blue Team capped off the Top 3 Group of winners.

A big THANK YOU to all our participants who participated in this event and made it to be a great success.

All smiles from our very tired but happy committees! :)

Looking forward to future activities that will be as fun and enjoyable as this was!

Cheers,
