Report: CPA "Around The World" Race

*note: to our readers, sorry for this late post. I don't want to give reasons, just it is my fault that i forgot to post it up and left it in the drafts. Sorry yea > < ~Shariman*

Last Saturday, CPAASC 2009 organised the CPA ‘Around the World’ Race with 9 teams participating the event. Several stations were set up around Swinburne, including classrooms, the library, outstanding buildings and the car park in Swinburne. They were turned into ‘countries’ of the world, with Swinburne International Airport a.k.a. Lecture Theatre 4.01 being the main meeting point.

There were 10 stations representing 10 countries in all, and each stations poses unique challenges to each teams to complete.

Registration- picking the team colours.

Africa "Catch the Catch" (Station: behind Lecture Theatre)

Teams needed to fulfil three tasks; the most challenging one was to catch the fish in the basin, while the second task was to use your foot to search for the orange-coloured marble and thirdly, to pick out two 1-sen coins from the cloudy water basin.

Brazil "Balloon Throwing" (Station: 3rd floor corridor between Block B & E)

This is by far the most challenging one, where no teams managed to catch 5 out of 7 attempts. All of the teams have to receive penalties to make up for the lost balloons.

New Zealand "Ping Pong Search" (Station: old staff car park, the old CMM building)

Teams at this station needed to search for the ping pong ball in the basinful of flour by blowing it! Then, they had to scoop the ping pong ball up using a spoon with their mouths and to walk holding the spoon and ping pong ball by mouth, towards the designated area.

Canada "Find the Flag" (Station: Multistory Car park)

The taxing part of the races, as teams’ gruellingly climb up the various levels of the multi-storey car park in search of the coloured flags that can be at any floor, at any nook and cranny(Sorry no pics =/ ).

Singapore “Match the Nations” (Station: Level 2, Block G)

One of the easiest station out there, where teams need to find out what countries are the flags representing. Some teams managed to find out which countries in very short time, thanks to some 'map' in one of the lecturer's room ^^ (Sorry no pics =/ )

Japan " Find the Car?" (Station: between hostel and Chillipeppers)

Simple as a front, this station proved challenging as the location of thw car was not given, but instead they were told the region where the car could be located! Some teams had to walk from one side of the station to the car and back again. It was not that simple as it sounded.

India "Body Part Balloons" (Station: along corridor between Block B and Block G)

Teams needed to divide themselves into pairs, pick lots to choose which body part combination to use to carry the balloon to and fro. After completing their rounds, the teams then have to burst the balloon by using their body part that they drew from the lots.

At this, let the imagination run wild on how they are able to complete the task as some unfortunate teams drew combination of stomach- butt, knee-knee, and face-butt.

Australia "Food Challenge" (Station: Manna Zone, new Cafe)

Teams are to divide themselves into pairs, the same as at the India Station and fulfil all three challenges:

First, dry biscuits and chilli sauce;

Second, Drinking Challenge, and

lastly; sandwich of choice.

Europe "Multi-legged Race" (Station: Multi Purpose Hall)

For this station, each member was tied together at their legs and must complete the whole course of walking towards their objectives. At each designated stop area, they have to decrease a leg to continue the race towards the goal. This multi-legged race requires persistent teamwork, and well, a bit of patience to complete the whole course.

North Atlantic Ocean "Book Search" (Station: Library)

Teams need to copy down the reference code of text books given by the station master and then find the books and bring it to him. This can be considered as one of the easiest task as it was done in the cool, cool library.

After a gruelling day of highs and lows, running up and down searching for stations and completing the tasks, these are the teams that made it to the top and able to ‘conquer the world….’

In Third Place, Roti Canai Telur Bawang Team!

Second Place, The Gamers Team!

Finally, The Master and Conqueror of the ‘World,’ the Explorer Team~!

Congratulations to all the winners and participants! We are very happy with the participation rate and hoped that you had fun through out the entire process.

So now, don’t forget, there are two more upcoming events; ACCA Careers 2009 and CPA Summer Boot Camp. See you there~!
