The companies include those from oil and gas, ICT, banking and finance, construction, hospitality, engineering, oil palm, telecommunications, education, human resource and automobile industry.
Dubbed “Career Discovery Day”, the fair starts from 9am to 5pm and is open to members of the public.
Successful entrepreneurs Datuk Philip Ting Ing Ding and Kenny Sia will speak about how they made it big at a sharing session from 3pm to 4pm. Ting will talk about “How to succeed in life” while Sia, a renowned blogger, will have some tips on how to “Become your own boss”.
“Over the years it has just got bigger as employers see the benefit of the job fair in sourcing for potential employees. This is especially evident with a company coming all the way from Singapore to take part,” said Esty Sharkawi, Student Operations Assistant Manager from the university.
“This time round, we have the largest number of participating companies and we expect about 1,500 visitors,” she said, adding that graduates and students from other institutions of higher learning have been invited.
Some of the companies will accept job applications and conduct interviews, she said, and advise visitors to bring along copies of their resume and other relevant documents.
A personality-career matching assessment is available from 10am to 12:00pm. All one needs to do is answer some questions on a computer and counsellors from the university will offer guidance based on the result.
The fair will also serve as a good platform for those who are still pursuing their studies as it gives them the chance to find out about industry placements and training programs some companies offer.
Apart from technical qualifications, they could also learn what employers look for when employing graduates as this will help them prepare for their career.
